A student team building high-performance autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) at roughly 1/100th the cost of conventional drones.
AquaWiz is a student-led autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) team from Keio University and University of Tsukuba. Combining CO2 + solenoid buoyancy control, AI-based fish detection, tracking and classification, and LTE+GPS telemetry with a web console on surfacing, our vehicles capture temperature to ±0.1°C, depth to ±2mm, and 4K HDR imagery. Triton-3 reached 89m at Lake Biwa, while Triton-Lite has logged 30+ river dives. Our goal is conventional-grade autonomy and performance at roughly 1/100th the cost of $300k–$5M drones.
