We presented an AI model that detects, tracks, and classifies fish from underwater video in a single workflow, and discussed how it can support ecosystem monitoring.
At the Lightning Talk (LT) session of MATLAB EXPO 2025, we presented our updated Fish AI — covering detection, tracking, and classification of fish — and how it can be applied to underwater observation.
By handling detection, tracking, and classification as a single pipeline running on underwater video, the project aims to cut the manual load of video analysis while producing information that can actually feed into ecosystem monitoring. On the day, we focused on the practical side: how the model is put together, and how we handle the data.
